Remastering an Icon: The All-New 2020 Chevrolet Corvette
Whether for its unmistakable profile or incomparable roadway prowess, the Chevy Corvette has become a piece of Americana over the last seven decades. But even the most iconic parts of our culture have to adapt for the future from time to time. Enter the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette.
Now in its eighth generation, this luxury sports car legend has just been given its most ambitious makeover to date. Here’s everything we know.
Your First Look at the 2020 Chevy Corvette
The 2020 model year marks the dawn of a new era in the age of the Corvette: the first-ever mid-engine configuration. That means you can literally see the beast that powers this sports car through its rear hatch window. This engineering choice not only looks spectacular, but it also gives the Corvette a more aerodynamic layout and improved cooling. Standard all-season performance tires are also a nice touch. The Corvette’s door handles and hatch releases have been seamlessly integrated into its chiseled body, creating a clean-cut exterior look. This sleekness spills into the cabin, where you have the choice of 8-way power GT1 seats, GT2 seats with Napa leather, or Competition Sports seats.
Here comes the fun part.Remember the 6.2L LT2 V8 engine that you can see without lifting the hood? It pumps out 495 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, making this the most formidable production Stingray ever. Factor in a Drive Mode Selector, a dual-clutch transmission, and available Magnetic Ride Control 4.0, and you’ve got a driving machine that brings the heat at every turn.
For all the dramatic engineering concepts, technology is not lost on the new Corvette. The new model packs both a Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system and a 12” reconfigurable digital instrument display that houses all driver information. The following standard and available features are also fair game:
- Performance Data Recorder
- Enhanced Navigation w/ 3-D View
- Bose® Performance Series 14-speaker audio
- Simplified Bluetooth® pairing w/ NFC
